Whats up everyone

One of the biggest trends in the home decor world is called quiet luxury. It started in fashion but has quickly caught on in real estate. If you’re thinking about selling, it will add value to your house and if you’re thinking of staying, it will make you love your home more.Defined by effortless elegance and understated luxury, this style takes you back to the basics with simple design principals and high quality materials.

So let’s go through the basic components of quiet luxury so you can decide if it’s for you or not. Personally, I’m a big fan and I do think it can add some real value to your home if you’re thinking of selling.

And stay tuned to the end because I sold a house recently that embodied quiet luxury and I’ll share some pics with you at the end of the video so you can see if it appeals to you!

Let’s dive right in

First, let’s define quiet luxury and how it’s different from regular luxury.

Quiet luxury in the context of real estate refers to a type of upscale and high-end living that emphasizes understated elegance, privacy, exclusivity, and a sense of tranquility. It’s a concept that caters to individuals who appreciate the finer things in life but value a more subdued and refined lifestyle, as opposed to ostentatious displays of wealth.

The main difference between quiet luxury and regular luxury lies in the way they are expressed and experienced. While both concepts involve upscale and high-end living, they diverge in terms of style, values, and overall approach.

Quiet luxury exudes a sense of elegance with minimal effort. Think clean and neutral tones using high end materials like real wood, stone, marble & granite.

Regular luxury tends to be more ostentatious and can involve conspicuous displays of wealth. It may involve lavish and extravagant elements that are meant to impress and showcase affluence. Think bolder colors and textures with more intricate detailing.

So how can you implement quiet luxury into your home without breaking the bank?

Think less is more. The quiet luxury trend isn’t about spending a ton of money on expensive items. We’re looking for an effortless look that exemplifies elegance and simplicity.

Nothing too ornate or detailed. Clean, minimal lines with a preference for natural materials like glass, ceramic and wood for decor and accessories.

High end materials are the key to quiet luxury over brand name logos. This applies to furniture, decor, countertops, cabinets and the actual structure of the home.

Think high quality solid wood flooring, marble or granite countertops and natural light over a mishmash of different materials, lamps, and carpets.

Now, I don’t want to confuse you by thinking quiet luxury is simply minimalism. It’s not.

Quiet luxury and minimalism are both design philosophies that emphasize simplicity and quality, but they approach these concepts from different angles and priorities.

Quiet luxury leans toward a refined and comfortable elegance, while minimalism embraces simplicity and functionality as its core principles.

In quiet luxury, possessions are carefully curated and selected for their quality, longevity, and contribution to a refined lifestyle. The focus is on having items that enhance the living experience. Personal items are welcome, they just should be very thoughtful and long lasting.

Minimalism encourages having fewer possessions overall. The emphasis is on owning only what is necessary and brings value to one’s life. It’s more about functionality.

Remember, the word luxury still means something, so homeowners and builders who encompass quiet luxury still want all of the bells and whistles, just in a more subtle elegant way.

For example, the lighting and temperature control will all be seamlessly integrated into the design. You’ll never see big speakers or clunky lamps in a home that exudes quiet luxury.

The focus is on quality, craftsmanship, and a sense of calm and tranquility.

As far as color pallets go, quiet luxury spaces are often characterized by neutral color palettes, consisting of shades of white and ivory, soft browns and tans, and understated hints of black, deep navy and olive.

To get that quiet luxury vibe, avoid any colors that might be considered “bold.”

Antique rugs and vintage furniture can also compliment a quiet luxury look. It’s all about the quality of the piece and how it fits into the space without feeling loud or obnoxious.

The big key to quiet luxury style is choosing pieces that are high-quality and have timeless styling—so they’ll still work for you a decade or two down the line.

Bringing the outside in is another characteristic of quiet luxury. Big windows with scenic views that bring in natural light but also feel private are perfect.

Properties associated with quiet luxury are usually situated in serene, secluded locations and provide a sense of retreat from the outside world.

So how can we bring this trend into our suburban homes?

Create serene outdoor spaces with cozy seating areas, and perhaps a small garden to contribute to the peaceful ambiance.

Consider landscaping features that provide privacy, like tall trees, hedges, or fences. This can create a sense of seclusion without needing to completely shut out the surroundings.

Choose a neutral color palette for both the interior and exterior of your home. This creates a timeless and calming atmosphere that aligns with the quiet luxury concept.

Embrace an open layout that allows for a seamless flow between spaces. Use plenty of natural light and dedicate spaces to relaxation and well-being, such as a meditation corner or a cozy space for unwinding.

If you think this sounds appealing, it’s because it is! And if you are thinking of selling your home, you may want to incorporate some of the quiet luxury characteristics because buyers today also think it’s very appealing.

Quiet luxury emphasizes elegance but is also cosy. Think of a soft cashmere blanket across a chair in front of the fireplace.

Remove all clutter, you should be doing this regardless if you are selling, and place specific pieces in the room that make it unique and comfortable. Add some live plants and fresh flowers. I prefer orchids as they last a while.

So what do you think? Does this sound like a trend worth exploring? I know the word “trend” tends to mean temporary but in this case, I think it’s safe to say quiet luxury is timeless.

So, Like I promised at the beginning of this video, I sold a home recently that reflects quiet luxury to a t. Let’s take a look at some pics.
